For a corporate identity assignment, I was asked to rebrand an existing, independently run, hair salon. My instructor gave the company a new name to better represent the zen-like interior decor of the business, and it was my task to create a logo and a stationery set.
Not shown is the presentation folder that accompanies this suite. Here, you can see the letterhead, the envelope and the two-sided business card that I developed for the fictional 'Utopia Salon & Spa.' To fit with the earthy atmosphere of the parlour, I chose to integrate bamboo into my design. Illustrated green stalks were made into patterns that embellish the back of the business card and the left margin of the letterhead. Most significantly, however, I used the shapes of the slender leaves to form the blades of a pair of scissors. The handles of the haircutter's equipment are actually the letters O and P in the name of the salon. I employed a light sans serif typeface to communicate precision, delicacy and modernity.
